  Kenneth Dugan, president of the New Haven Manufacturers Association, says overall business seems to be slowing down in the region, but individual experiences vary.
  
  'We're busy, but I don't know how long that's going to keep up,' Dugan says of his company, Prestige Tool Mfg. Co. in Milford. 'I know a couple of members who say things are slow, and I've heard of a couple of layoffs. But I have a shop located right next to me that is going gangbusters, very busy. So it seems to be spotty at this point.'
  
  Dugan says much depends on what industry sector a manufacturer serves. 'The auto industry has a big snowball effect, so as auto orders dry up that will be a growing problem for companies that make auto parts.
