New York, N.Y., December 14, 1998 -- Dime Bancorp, Inc. (NYSE: DME) has announced the appointment of Thomas J. Ducca, 48, as Chief Information Officer of Dime Bancorp, and its subsidiary, The Dime Savings Bank of New York, FSB.Mr. Ducca joins The Dime from Benton International, a subsidiary of Perot Systems, where he was a lead consultant, and brings more than 25 years of banking and information technology experience to his new position.At The Dime, Mr. Ducca will focus on business growth through technology, delivering value both to customers and to the bank's overall operations and infrastructure.An Executive Vice President, he will report directly to Chief Executive Officer Lawrence J. Toal.

While with Benton International, Mr. Ducca led the firm's call center consulting practice, and was the principal consultant in its work with The Dime over the past 18 months.Additionally, he worked with European and Middle Eastern clients in call center and retail banking distribution strategy.Previously, Mr. Ducca was Executive Vice President, Domestic Banking for Riyad Bank, the second largest bank in Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Ducca began his career with Chase Manhattan Bank, where he spent nearly two decades.After a successful track record in several marketing roles, he was the first individual selected from Consumer Banking for Chase's Credit Training Program.He subsequently was selected to manage Chase's Retail Banking Business in Hong Kong, where he expanded the business by introducing new deposit products in credit cards as well as installing Chase's first overseas ATM network.He then became responsible for Chase's Retail Banking activities in Manhattan, which at that time included 50 branches with $80 billion in deposits and over 1000 employees.
Mr. Ducca holds a BS degree from St. Peter's College, and an MBA from New York University.
