This year the founding president of the MPLS Forum, David Drury, retired from his role as President and Chair. I'd like to thank him for his incredible service and dedication to the MPLS Forum.
...
As we thought about what to write to show the MPLS Forum's appreciation to its retiring Chairman and President, David Drury, for providing the Forum his leadership during our early days, we were reminded of the ancient Chinese philosopher Lao-tse's description of a good leader.
"A good leader is best when people barely know that he leads. A good leader talks little; but when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, all others will say, 'We did this ourselves.'
David Drury was a good leader for the MPLS Forum. With a steady hand and gentle guidance he helped give birth to the Forum and quickly establish it as the leading MPLS resource. With his objectives accomplished he has quietly turned over his duties to Andy Malis.
I think it is fair to say that because of David, all MPLS Forum members can look back at the Forum's success over the last two years and say, "We did it ourselves."
Thank you David.

Mr. David Drury (Forum President & Chairman) of Marconi
...
"The MPLS Forum has made considerable progress in a very short amount of time, and has quadrupled its membership to more than 70 member companies within just six months," said David Drury, president and chairman of The MPLS Forum. "As the Forum continues to gain momentum within the industry, we will continue focusing on the successful deployment of MPLS by defining capability sets, outlining deployment scenarios, championing interoperability initiatives and continuing educational outreach programs."
The first course of action for the new board was to review the Forum's mission. This review resulted in a slight modification to the Forum's mission statement to place a stronger emphasis on "multi-vendor MPLS networks" rather than "MPLS technologies". In the end, the Forum members want to facilitate the deployment of MPLS networks that deliver MPLS-enabled services and applications generating revenue opportunities for network service providers and carriers.
