Mr. A.E. Dotson

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 2000--L-3 Communications (NYSE:LLL) announced today that A.E. (Gene) Dotson has been named president of its SPD Technologies business units. L-3's SPD Technologies business is comprised of SPD Electrical Systems in Philadelphia, PA, Pac-Ord in San Diego, CA, Power Paragon in Anaheim, CA, and Henschel, Inc. in Newbury, MA. Mr. Dotson, age 58, has over 31 years of engineering, management and leadership experience. He has served as president of Power Paragon since 1994, when the Carlyle Group, L.P. and an executive management team including Mr. Dotson formed Power Paragon from the acquisition of MagneTek Power Technology Systems. In 1992, he joined MagneTek as a sector executive responsible for military business. Mr. Dotson began his career as an associate engineer at Teledyne-Ryan Aeronautical and served as president of Teledyne's I-NET unit from 1988 until 1992.
