It was a request by my son , Sean.He said , 'Please coach me.' I said : 'OK , for one year at $ 700 , 000 with a radio and television show.'''.

Sean Dooley also likes having his dad as an assistant coach , but he adds that it might make practices harder for him.
It's fun , but he's tough on you - mostly on me , '' Sean said.He uses me as an example.I've got to be sharp.''.
Dooley said he enjoys coaching Sean and likes his son's work habits. He added that all the 'Dogs are giving a good effort.Meanwhile , the coaching staff will keep working , stressing the basics and employing several players at two or more positions.

When Dooley came to North Carolina from Georgia in 1967 , he pumped life into a moribund Tar Heels program with a sound fundamental approach that included smash-mouth , Southeastern Conference-type toughness and a sophisticated recruiting system.
He led UNC to three ACC championships and six bowl games in 11 years ( 1967-77 ) , then went to Virginia Tech as athletics director and head football coach. In nine seasons at Blacksburg , his Hokies compiled a 64-37 record and went to three bowls.
The challenge at Wake ( 1987-92 ) was the most imposing of all.But Dooley guided the Deacons - who had finished above .500 only seven times since 1953 - to three winning seasons and one postseason appearance , a 39-35 Independence Bowl win over Oregon in Dooley's last game at Wake on Dec.31 , 1992.
Wake was Dooley's last coaching stint - until he popped up in the Pop Warner league. But his philosophy hasn't changed much.He likes the Power I , favors an attacking defense and will suggest adding a few wrinkles to the Bulldogs' schemes after they've learned the basics.
I told them we will have a good time , that we are going to play hard and enjoy this , '' said Dooley , who is obviously enjoying coaching again.
