:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Update on Liability Insurance for Canadian Rotary Clubs in Zone 22 The second item in Volume 2, Number 4 (01 March, 2001) of "BILL'S BITS" advised readers that, at its November, 2002 meeting, the RI Board deleted reference to Canadian Rotary districts and clubs from the compulsory liability insurance program, leaving only USA districts and clubs eligible to participate.A subsequent survey commissioned by the Board indicated that, despite strong representations for inclusion, clubs in countries other than the USA - including those in Canada - did not indicate sufficient concern or interest in the issue to warrant further action by the Secretariat. However, I have received a sufficient number of strong representations for having appropriate and economic liability insurance available to all Canadian districts and clubs that I am in the process of structuring a committee to identify the essential elements of appropriate liability insurance coverage and the carrier(s) who are prepared to provide it at reasonable cost. The committee, to be chaired by Rtn.Terry HEMSWORTH of D7080, will be comprised of five Rotarians, each representing one of the regions of Canada - West Coast; Prairies' Central; Quebec; and the Maritimes - in Zone 22.
