Centrelink's Indigenous Services Officer for the Kempsey-Nambucca region, Jamie Donovan, said the purpose was to make people more aware of reconciliation and develop a greater understanding of indigenous culture through a "yarn" about themes in indigenous art.
The day began with discussions about enhancing government services to indigenous communities and what reconciliation means to them.
"The highlight was the creation of artwork by indigenous artists which represents what reconciliation means to the group," Mr Donovan said.
"This artwork will make up part of a larger artwork of six pieces (like a jigsaw) that, as one piece, "links" the group through a shared commitment to reconciliation; but individually, represents each agencies individual commitment to reconciliation," he said.
