DAVID DONOHOE has practiced law in British Columbia in the fields of civil litigation and business law for over 30 years.Mr. Donohoe obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968 from McGill University and his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1971 from the University of British Columbia.He was awarded the Law Society Gold Medal and Prize for ranking as the top student in his graduating class of about 185 students.With the assistance of a Commonwealth Scholarship, Mr. Donohoe attended the London School of Economics in London, England in 1972 to obtain his Master of Laws degree.His numerous court appearances on behalf of his clients have provided Mr. Donohoe with extensive experience in trials, pre-trial applications, appeals and arbitrations, including several appearances as counsel in the Supreme Court of Canada.These Supreme Court of Canada cases include Hollis v. Dow Corning Corporation in which Mr. Donohoe acted for Dow Corning and Shell Canada Products Ltd. v. City of Vancouver in which Mr. Donohoe acted for Shell.Mr. Donohoe has also previously acted for many clients in a wide variety of litigation cases relating to business contracts, insurance claims, real estate, leases, construction, employment, defamation, medical malpractice and other issues.Mr. Donohoe's involvement with various bar association activities include his previous membership on the National Council of the Canadian Bar Association, the Provincial Council of the B.C. branch of the Canadian Bar Association and acting as Chairman and Vice-Chair over two years of the Civil Litigation Section - Vancouver of the Canadian Bar Association.He has also been a member of the C.B.A.'s Practice Advisory Panel on Civil Litigation, which assists junior members of the bar with practical advice.He is also an author of seminar papers "The Medical Products Manufacturer and the More Stringent Duty to Warn", "Securities Class Actions in British Columbia" and "Confidential Information and the Pre-Trial Process."Mr. Donohoe is a member of the B.C. Arbitration and Mediation Institute, qualified to act as an arbitrator.
