George B. Donnini (previously an associate attorney) practices in the firm's Detroit office in the area of litigation.He concentrates primarily in the areas of white collar criminal defense and assists corporate clients with the conduct of internal investigations.In 2004, he worked on one of the largest health care fraud cases in history (United States v. MacKenzie, et al, 01 CR 10350, U.S. District Court, Massachusetts).This case, which culminated in an acquittal of the firm's client, involved allegations of federal anti-kickback statute and Prescription Drug Marketing Act violations.
Prior to joining Butzel Long, Donnini served as defense counsel in the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate for the United States Marine Corps in Camp Pendleton, California, the most active judicial circuit in the United States Department of Defense.He was counsel of record in numerous criminal trials and provided legal advice to hundreds of military personnel and family members in civil matters as well.His service contributed to an award awarded to his office from the American Bar Association (ABA) for exemplary legal assistance to military clients.
Donnini also served as law clerk to The Honorable William H. Pauley III, United States District Court, S.D.N.Y., New York, New York.
