    On June 5, 1938, Don and Vera Diel were married in Cherokee.

    Donald "Donnie" E. Cain, 68, of London, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 in his residence.

    Born Feb. 10, 1934 in London, he was a son of William Lewis and Wanda (Holloway) Cain.

    He was a 1951 graduate of London High School where he played football.He went on to the United States Air Force where he was World Wide Air Force halfback and also excelled at swimming.He had also attended Howard University in Washington, D.C.He was a veteran of Korea, a member of Madison Memorial Post No. 105, American Legion and was a former member of the First Baptist Church of London.He had retired as a painter and recently was a math teacher with Adult Basic Education in London.

    Survivors include daughters, Dawn Stanley of Columbus, Kim Cain Edley of London, Angela Cain (Sirdaston) Jefferson of Indianapolis, Toya (David) White of Bexley, Shelley (Mark) Bryson of Indianapolis; sons, Donald (Sheryl) Cain II of Urbana, Rev. Troy (Sue) Gray of Chillicothe; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Mercedes Crouch of London, Julia (Jay) Boland of Chicago, Judy (Terry) Seward of Ironton; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend, Lynne of London; former wife, Freda Cain of Columbus.
