SCHUYLER LAKE - Edwin Thomas Donnelly, 59, of state Route 28, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 26, 2003, in his home.
He was born on March 10, 1944, in Cooperstown, son of the late William R. and Mary Kraham Donnelly.
A lifelong area resident, he was raised in Schuyler Lake and was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School, where he was an all-star quarterback.Upon the completion of high school he went on to Parson's College in Iowa, where he majored in physical education.He received his master's degree from Cortland State Teachers College.

Ed was a former amateur boxer who retired in 1968, when he was 24, with a record of 47 wins and six losses.He had won the Golden Gloves in Iowa in both 1964 and 1965, and was a runner-up in 1964 for the Olympic Boxing Team.In 1966, he was a runner-up in Troy and a semi-finalist in North Carolina.He had also won bouts in Oneonta and Saratoga.
During his amateur career he fought such notables as Hedgeman Lewis, Marvin Hagler and Billy Backus as well as being a sparring partner for Vito Antuofermo.
Ed had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Catholic life.He was a member of Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs.A community-minded individual, he was a member of the Frankfort Kiwanis Club and a volunteer firefighter with the Frankfort Fire Department.He will be truly missed by many.
