    District Fire Chief Edward Donnelly began receiving disability benefits from the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund in August, 1992, for an unknown injury he sustained as a full-time police sergeant at the Ottawa Hills Police Department, where he worked for nine years.Mr. Donnelly, Oregon, and Ottawa Hills officials refused to identify his partial disability, citing a federal health privacy law.

    Though he was no longer working for the police department, Mr. Donnelly, an Oregon resident, continued to work at Oregon's Fire Station No. 2 on South Wheeling Street as a part-time volunteer, Oregon Fire Chief Ray Walendzak said.

    Chief Walendzak said Mr. Donnelly was hired there in 1976 as a recruit and worked his way up to become the district chief in November, 2002.Mr. Donnelly has been on a leave of absence from the fire department since July 1.
