Dr. Carl Dohn, will build the 15-foot round table that will seat eight world leaders when they meet on Sea Island in June.Twenty 1,500 pound beams will be sawed into boards to make the large table and 10 smaller tables where members of the delegations will sit behind their leaders.

Construction of the main table will require from 200 to 300 hours of work according to Dr. Dohn.At 3 inches thick, 15 feet in diameter and resting on five pedestals, the table weight could only be described as 'a lot.' "It's hard to make a round table look good," he says.

The table will have a 3-foot wide hole in the middle for cables to pass through and will be equipped with risers that will hold cameras pointed at each leader for translation purposes.In addition, the table will be inlaid with flag designs from the eight member nations: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Russia.

After the summit, the table will be used for board meetings of the Sea Island Co.According to Dr. Dohn, in order for the large table to fit, architects have had to redesign the company's board room.

Carl W. Dohn, Jr., M.D. attended Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC.He then attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.He performed his residency at University of Florida program in Jacksonville, FL.He has a special interest in female urinary incontinence and pelvic reconstructive surgery.After serving a two year Army obligation in Hinesville, GA, he moved to Brunswick to begin his private practice.He has served five terms as Chief of OB-GYN at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center.He is a member of the Executive Committee and has been Chairman of the Credentials Committee for ten years.Dr. Dohn is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology, board-certified by the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology, a member of the Glynn County Medical Society and the Medical Association of Georgia.Dr. Dohn is an elder at the St. Simons Presbyterian Church and was recently honored by President Bush for designing and building the Summit table for the G-8 conference.
