Picture of Dieter DohmenDieter Dohmen is an education economist and has worked for about 20 years as a researcher and consultant on financing, planning and marketing of the whole education system; as well as concerning in-service-training.Additional aspects were on education effectiveness and educational quality, on labour market economics, socio-economics, and demographic change.He analyses and develops business models for eLearning for educational and research institutions.With respect to eLearning he has conducted studies on cost and financing of eLearning (in higher education) or concerning market potentials and business models for eLearning-based in-service-training and further education at German universities, financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Science.In 2003/2004 he focussed on eLearning in higher education and several international case studies on eLearning in the private and public sectors for the Office of Technology Assessment at the German Federal Parliament.At the moment he is e.g. involved in analyses and evaluations of some German eLearning structures.
In 1993 he founded FiBS - Institute of Education and Socio-Economic Research & Consulting in Cologne that combines theoretical and practical experience in a national and international environment.Its projects on behalf of ministries on federal and state level, political decision makers, foundations, research societies and educational institutions, international companies and organisations such as the European Commission, World bank, International Labour Organisation and German Agency for Technical Co-operation, employ an interdisciplinary future-oriented approach.Dr. Dohmen is the German representative for resources cluster of the programme "Education & Training 2010" at the European Commission, Directorate-General Education and Culture, the convenor for education economics network of the European Educational Research Association and member of several research associations and advisory boards.Prior to the foundation of FiBS he worked as trainer in adult education and management consultant.
