Island Insurance Appoints James Shigeo Dixon as Assistant Vice President, Compliance and Governmental Affairs
HONOLULU - Island Insurance Company, Ltd., the State's largest locally owned and managed property and casualty insurance carrier, has appointed local attorney James Shigeo Dixon as Assistant Vice President, Compliance and Governmental Affairs.
In this newly created position, Dixon will lead the regulatory and governmental affairs efforts for the company and provide critical analysis of current and proposed legislation and regulatory rules.Dixon will support working with the Insurance Division on government required filings as well as monitor and provide communication of regulatory compliance issues.

Dixon has also held positions with Ayabe Chong Nishimoto Sia & Nakamura, the Hawaii State Insurance Division - Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and served as Special Deputy Liquidator of the Hawaii Dental Health Plan.
Dixon is a graduate of Wauwatosa East High School in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of Wisconsin.He also earned his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.He is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association, Wisconsin State Bar Association and American Bar Association.
His professional affiliations include: District Chair for the 25th District, Hawaii Democratic Party; Member of the Board of Directors, Friends of the Judiciary History Center of Hawaii; Treasurer, I Mua!Mamua!University of Wisconsin Alumni Association of Hawaii; and Treasurer, Lions' Club, Diamond Head Chapter.
