Thunderstorms forecast for today and Wednesday could bring some relief, with two to three inches of rain expected in areas that could reach as far north as Lake Okeechobee, said Brad Diehl, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Miami.

But the rainfall will probably be spotty, dumping a couple of inches here and there.

"Anything that we get is obviously going to help us," Diehl said.

But Diehl said the final estimate should be about one-and-a-half to one-and-three-quarters inches of rain.He said the thunderstorms were expected to end Sunday night.
