Diehl Ford owner Bob Diehl said the trail link will be an asset to the community, although he has some concerns about security and vandalism.

A small footbridge crosses the creek near the car dealership.People stand on it and look at the fish swimming below.

"We kind of think of that creek as a moat now," Diehl said."It protects us.If they encourage people to walk along that creek, unless there is significant shrubbery between the trail and the lot, there could be a security problem for us."

But Diehl said the city has assured him any security problems would be addressed. He also hopes landscaping and the extra foot traffic on the trail will clean up the nearby area under the freeway where homeless people camp and generate garbage.

The city has been working with business owners and neighboring residents since July, a process Diehl said has been pleasant and productive.

"Hopefully it's going to come to fruition," he said.
