David Deyhle named vice president for marketing.
GOSHEN , Ind. – Colleges and universities are constantly making strategic adjustments to meet the changing needs of their students. A new leadership position at Goshen College is designed to further the college's commitment to serving young people and their families in a community of faith and learning.
President Shirley H. Showalter named David A. Deyhle vice president for marketing.
...
Deyhle will join the President's Council in July 2001.
...
Deyhle will supervise the college's admissions , financial aid and public relations divisions.
This vice president will be charged with advancing our mission to best serve students and families from the moment they begin determining the college that best matches their needs and interests , said President Showalter. David Deyhle understands how Goshen College , informed by Anabaptist values , is educating students in the 21st century , and will bring vision and energy to this position. With his experience in Christian higher education , he is well equipped to help Goshen College build on its history of innovation and academic excellence..
Deyhle has served as director of marketing at Trinity International University ( Deerfield , Ill. ) since 1996. Prior to that , he was associate publisher for higher education publications for two years at Berry Publishing Services and worked on the editorial staff of the American Theological Library Association from 1990 to 1994.
Deyhle grew up in Springfield , Ohio , where his family attends a Brethren in Christ church. He said his experience at a Christian college and later theological study put him in contact with individuals who were not only academic mentors but also committed Christians who enriched his understanding of living out one's faith in the context of the broader world.
My daily life and work is linked to what I believe , said Deyhle. Goshen College is clearly a place where Anabaptist values - particularly those of community , reconciliation and peace and justice concerns - come together with issues of Christian theology and social action. In many settings , you find one but not the other. These values can become real opportunities in the context of the college's mission , said Deyhle.
Currently a master of business administration candidate concentrating in marketing management at DePaul University , Deyhle graduated from Messiah College and went on to divinity studies at Princeton Theological Seminary before completing postgraduate theological studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is a member of the American Marketing Association and the Chicago Direct Marketing Association and also serves as an independent marketing consultant to businesses.
To move into a vice presidential position at Goshen , an outward-looking Christian school that wants to grow , is exciting , Deyhle said. I look forward to working with colleagues to constantly deliver the best academic value to students while we walk with them as they hear their calling..
Deyhle said that Goshen , with its service orientation in the context of a liberal arts curriculum and a small campus community , is well-positioned to hear and respond to the needs of students and families - and employers.
Students are looking for outcomes. They are asking , ‘What am I going to have if I get a degree from Goshen College?' said Deyhle. Employers are looking for people who are not only technically proficient , but who can also deal with the challenges of an increasingly interconnected world - who can work effectively in multicultural settings , understand and handle conflict. With programs like Study-Service Term and a strong general education plan , Goshen is preparing its students to be highly desirable in the marketplace..
Deyhle will be moving to the Goshen area with his wife , Debbie , and two daughters.
Goshen College is a national liberal arts college known for leadership in international education , service-learning and peace and justice issues in the Anabaptist-Mennonite tradition. Recognized for its unique Study-Service Term program and exceptional educational value , GC serves more than 1 , 000 students in both traditional and nontraditional programs.
