Leona C. Dey

Leona C. Dey was born on Jan. 25, 1909, to Adam and Anna (Jahn) Dey in Vergas, Minn., where her father was a merchant and the town's first postmaster.She was raised in Vergas, attended a parochial school there and graduated from Frazee High School.She was a devoted member of the Lutheran church, declaring her confirmation on May 29, 1922, in Vergas. Leona married Elgar Thune in St. Paul, Minn., in 1957; he died in 1960. She is survived by her sister, Gertrude Krueger of Menasha; her faithful friend and caretaker, Sandra (Gary) Krupka of Neenah, Wis.; and several nephews and nieces. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Armin Dey and Rev. Norbert Dey.
