CHESAPEAKE -- Joseph Lewis Dey of the 1900 block of Land of Promise Road , died Oct. 4 , 2001 , at Chesapeake General Hospital
Born in Norfolk County , Mr. Dey retired in 1980 as a school teacher from the Chesapeake School System after 28 years of service.He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church , Chesapeake , and an Army veteran of World War II.He was predeceased by his wife , Virginia Dey.
He is survived by a daughter , Jeanette Andrews of Chesapeake ; a stepdaughter , Millicent Daughtry of South Riding , Va. ; a son , Melvin Lewis of Chesapeake ; a sister , Julia Burke of Chesapeake ; eight grandchildren ; six great-grandchildren ; and a devoted friend , Lillian Roberts of Edenton , N.C..
A funeral will be held at noon Monday at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church , Chesapeake , by the Rev. Robert L. Happer with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens , Norfolk.Fitchett Funeral Home is in charge.
