Consequently most of his students spend their time trying to hurt people without touching them - touching is cheating.     Dr. Stuart W. G. Derbyshire of Britain is presently an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

    Dr. Derbyshire received his Bachelor degree from University College in London, UK.He then went to the University of London to be awarded his Doctorate degree with the thesis, "Neuropsychological Measures of Pain Processing in Pain Patients and Pain Free Volunteers: A Study Using Positron Emission Tomography".

    He has served as an Assistant Professor at UCLA/CURE Neuroenteric Disease Program in Los Angeles from 1998 to 2000, a visiting research fellow in the Department of Radiology at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center from 1996 to 1998, and a research assistant at University of Manchester Rheumatic Diseases Center from 1994 to 1996.

    Numerous bursaries were rewarded to Dr. Derbyshire to attend various international conferences such as Brain '99 - XIXth International Symposium on Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism(Copenhagen, Denmark), Brain '97 - XVIIIth International Symposium on Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism(Baltimore, USA), and the 8th World Congress of International Association for the Study of Pain(Vancouver, Canada).During the 29th Annual Scientific Meeting of the British Pain Society, which took place in Llandudno, UK in 1996, he was awarded for best short paper presentation.

    He gave many lectures and plenary presentations as an invited speaker for prestigious conventions and meetings.Many of his articles, reviews, papers and abstracts have been published.He is affiliated with International Association for the Study of Pain(IASP) and American Pain Society.
