Frank M. Denton

Major General, U.S. Army (retired) Frank Denton, P.E., has been hired as Deputy General Manager for Capital Improvements.Denton is charged with coordinating the planning, development and construction of transit infrastructure improvements, including the Canal Streetcar Line, the Desire Streetcar Line, and the RTA's portion of the Airport-to-CBD Light Rail project.

A graduate of Tulane University, Denton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.After serving in the military for 30 years, he was appointed as Louisiana Secretary of Transportation Development.In addition, he has more than 20 years of experience with private sector construction management and building contractor firms throughout the New Orleans region.From 1996 to 1998, Denton directed the 5, 600-person staff, managed a budget of more than $ 830 million and provided oversight of $ 1.2 billion in construction projects across the state.

Frank Denton, Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has stated that due to the cost-share, engineering, and construction requirements of this project, a twelve-year commitment is not feasible.
