Director of FSU's athletic marketing department, Jason Dennard, estimated about 6,000 people attended the free, three-hour event.
"This is one of our best events each year," said Dennard.
"It's getting to the point where we are having to look at a bigger venue."
Dennard mentioned that fans had been lining up since 6 a.m. that morning to get in.
"People are hungry for football," he said.
...
"The coaches were wanting to focus mainly on the autographs," said Dennard said about cutback.
"It looks as though the event will be resurrected for next year."
Funded by marketing firm ISP Sports and sponsorships, the event included freebies ranging from posters to football guides to yard signs with this year's motto, "83,000 strong," written across them.
That's the number of available seats at Doak Campbell Stadium.
The signs all but disappeared before the event ended.
"We want 83,000 people behind the Seminoles every Saturday," said Dennard.
