    H. Lane Dennard, Jr. H. Lane Dennard, Jr. was born in Macon, Georgia, and graduated from Mercer University in Macon with an A.B. degree in 1966. He served in the Army as a Captain and Company Commander in Vietnam. His decorations include the Silver Star, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal and Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. After his tour of service in the Army, Mr. Dennard attended the University of Georgia School of Law where he received the J.D. degree in 1973. After graduation from law school, he was associated with the firm of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak and Stewart and served as managing partner of the Atlanta office. He joined King & Spalding as a partner in January of 1991 and has served as a senior partner on the Labor and Employment Law Team in that Firm. He is a member of the Bar in South Carolina and Georgia and has served as Co-Chairman of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee of the South Carolina Bar.

    Prior to his retirement in 2003, Mr. Dennard practiced in the field of labor and employment law for over 30 years. His practice included the litigation of the full range of labor/employment law cases in state and federal courts including oral arguments in the Fourth, Sixth and Eleventh Circuits and in the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Dennard has litigated labor and employment cases in all of the states in the Southeastern United States and most of the states on the East Coast.

    Mr. Dennard also spent considerable time in his practice assisting clients with training and the development of policies designed to achieve legal compliance and avoid litigation. He has also been very involved in alternatives to the litigation of employment and labor cases in court including arbitration and mediation. In this context, Mr. Dennard has developed ADR policies and procedures and monitored their implementation. He has also successfully mediated numerous complex employment law cases, including class action cases. Mr. Dennard has collaborated with Dr. Herbert Northrup, Professor Emeritus of Management, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, on articles that have appeared in the ABA publication, The Labor Lawyer; The Georgia Law Review; and The Employee Relations Law Journal.

    Mr. Dennard recently authored a supplement to NLRB Remedies for Unfair Labor Practices and co-authored a revision to Unions' Rights to Company Information. The latter publication was revised to the extent that it is a totally new book. Both books were originally published by the Wharton School as a part of its Labor Relations and Public Policy Series.

    Lane Dennard was inducted as a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers in August of 2001. He was listed as one of the leading Labor and Employment lawyers in Georgia in the 2003-2004 edition of Chambers USA, America's Leading Business Lawyers. Mr. Dennard was recently appointed Chairman of the Advisory Board of the John M. Olin Institute for Employment Practice and Policy, George Mason University. He is also a past member of the Alumni Board of Directors for Mercer University, College of Liberal Arts.
