Von de Luna has been named general manager of the Hotel Monaco Denver, and will begin in this capacity on January 1, 2009.

De Luna has a 17-year, progressive career in the hospitality industry, working his way up from assistant front office manager/assistant housekeeping manager at the Hyatt Arlington in Rosslyn, Va. Most recently, he held the position of general manager at Kimpton's Hotel Burnham in Chicago. De Luna has managed hotels for more than seven years, including Kimpton's Hotel Rouge and Kimpton's Hotel Madera, both in Washington, D.C.

Before beginning his career in hospitality, de Luna was an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist for the U.S. Air Force and served in the first Gulf War.

"Whether our guests are traveling for business or pleasure, one of the most important things they want is a good night's sleep," says Von DeLuna, general manager of the Hotel Burnham in Chicago, where guests can check out any of eight kinds of pillows from the hotel's pillow library. "We have a 100% natural buckwheat-hull pillow; a snore-reducing pillow, which really works; full-length body pillows; special eye pillows--whatever people need to sleep better." DeLuna notes that while guests travel to experience something new, when it comes to the bed, they often want to replicate the comforts of their own. "We used to have lots of people bringing their pillows from home with them," he says.
