Rory H. Delaney » Experience
Rory Delaney, of counsel to Thomas & Associates, graduated from the University of
Cambridge, England with a degree in law in 1990.
Mr. Delaney worked as a solicitor for the global law firm of Freshfields, Bruckhaus, Deringer in their London and Paris offices between 1992 and 1994 and subsequently Steptoe & Johnson, Rakisons until 1996.
That year he became a barrister of the Honorable Society of Lincoln's Inn and concentrated his practice on criminal litigation, defending serious crimes and prosecuting on behalf of the Crown and Her Majesty's Customs and Excise.
In the years 1996 to 2001, Mr. Delaney conducted over seventy jury trials, covering tax evasion, importation offenses, computer crimes and armed robbery and most recently completed the successful prosecution of ten defendants in a $30 million drug importation conspiracy.
In 2001, Rory and his American family, moved to Boston and, after taking the Massachusetts Bar in July 2002, was admitted to practice.
He speaks fluent French and competent German.
Since moving to the United States, Rory has appeared before the federal court, states courts, the National association of Securities Dealers and the United States District Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Rory is also published in Lawyers Weekly USA in a critique of the government's Memorandum on the Principles of the Prosecution of Business Organizations (the "Thompson Memo"), "DOJ Memo has dire implications for Attorney-Client Privilege", Lawyers Weekly USA April 28, 2003.
