Rod Delaney resigned his post at Prep today. He has accepted the head boys basketball job at Tri-County in Flora.I know many will think of this as being a big step down, but it gives Rod the chance to continue coaching, and not have to do it in such a non-realistic setting as Prep had become.TC will actually be a shorter drive for him than Prep was now that he lives in Madison.Rod is really happy and excited about the move...I think he's just glad to be out of the pressure-cooker.

Foozy Dyer led the Rebels (15-16) to the Academy A North Central Tournament in his first year as head coach and should remain on staff, according to Goolsby."With his dental practice, he really didn¹t have the extra time, so I guess he¹ll be Delaney¹s assistant," said Goolsby."I think (Delaney) will be a great addition to our school.We¹re tickled to death to have a coach of his caliber."

Having directed his team to eight wins in their last nine games, Tri-County Academy boys basketball coach Rod Delaney got his wish of a coveted first round playoff bye for his red-hot Rebels.

He also wished subconsciously that last Friday night's game in Flora with Greenville Christian would be close, but maybe not this close.
    ...
Emerging from the locker room after a 15-minute chat with his team, Delaney said his team needed a game they had to "gut out" like Friday's battle with Greenville Christian.
    ...
"Coach Delaney is a heck of a coach and he gets the maximum out of his kids."

After starting the season rather inauspiciously, Delaney thinks his team's best basketball is ahead of them in February.

"Our big guys are our strong suit and they're the key to us doing well in the post season," he said.
