    Since joining the Church by transfer in 1959, Rod has been actively involved in most facets of its operation. He has chaired the Board of Stewards, the Board of Elders, and the (now amalgamated) Council. Rod has also been involved with the Church Constitution, the Structure Implementation Committee, Church building upgrades, Contact magazine, the Membership Committee, as well as the Vulnerable People Policy and Leading with Care Team.

    Rod moved to Deep River in 1958 with his wife, Glenda, to finish his Master's thesis in Nuclear Engineering. They raised two daughters in Deep River, moving to what is now Point Alexander in 1978. He retired from AECL in 1993, and has been extensively involved with the North Renfrew Ambulance, Algonquin Search and Rescue, Canadian Red Cross Emergency Services, Partnerships Toward Safer Communities, as well as Emergency Planning for the local townships.
