Dr. Todd Dehli, a physician and friend of de Tournillon's, said de Tournillon had an infectious personality and was passionate about boating before the accident but suffered post-traumatic stress syndrome and expressed suicidal thoughts after.

"After the accident, he was totally different.It was like a switch got turned off," Dehli said.
