HERBERT J. DEHLER

Funeral services were on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph, for Herbert J. Dehler, age 90, of St. Joseph, who died peacefully at his home on Saturday, Nov. 10.The Rev. Gregory Miller officiated.Burial was in the parish cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 5773 and St. Joseph American Legion Post 328.

Herbert was born on Jan. 27, 1911, in Lastrup, Minn., to John and Margaret (Zenner) Dehler.He served in the US Army during WW II.He married Edwina R. Goerdt on Feb. 7, 1944, in St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.He farmed and later was employed by St. Benedict's Convent in St. Joseph as a carpenter.He was a member of St. Joseph American Legion Post 328, Knights of Columbus Council 7057 from which he received "Family of the Year Award" in 1988, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, past president and member of the St. Joseph Senior Citizens, Holy Name Society, Oblates of St. Benedict, St. Joseph parish which he served as lector and choir member and a life member of VFW Post 5773.
