Dorothy Marie DeBoer, age 73, of Lyle, Minnesota died Wednesday morning, December 4, 2002 at her home. She was born November 29, 1929 in Claremont, Minnesota to Clifford and Esther (Thompson) Higgins. She attended school in Elkton and married Kenneth DeBoer on August 9, 1948 in Spring Valley. Dorothy was president of AAL Branch #5583 and a member of Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church where she belonged to Naomi Circle. She served on the Lyle School Board for twenty years and had been a Lyle City Council member for the past five years and treasurer of the Lyle EDA. Dorothy was a waitress at the Diamond Lunch CafŽ and Copper Kettle CafŽ and worked at the Lyle Liquor Store. She started working for the Post Office as a Post Office rural route carrier in 1968, transferred to the Rochester Mail Station, sorting mail and in 1980 became Postmaster in Lyle, retiring in 1996 after 30 years of service. Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family, many friends and the community of Lyle.
