After working one semester developing the new Moonlight Café program, Bolchko handed the program off to the head of the office of student affairs, Ginger DeBias.
DeBias transformed the program's old name to "Late Night Lehigh." However, that's not all she transformed about the program.
Over the past seven years, DeBias transformed "Late Night Lehigh" into the vision it is today. When DeBias took control of the program, she said most of the program's events were old and in desperate need of improvement.
"Before its renovation, Lamberton was old and not inviting," DeBias said
DeBias said it was difficult to get students to come to events because Lamberton was dull and lifeless. However, with Lamberton's renovation, Late Night Lehigh has taken off over the past two semesters, DeBias said.
Lamberton opened up over the past two semesters in order to better serve students.
Karaoke, open mic nights, psychic fairs, bingo, cards, board games and table tennis tournaments have all been a part of Late Night Lehigh's rapidly expanding agenda.
DeBias said these activities and more are going to be a part of Late Night Lehigh's future.
The office of student development and student affairs is the primary influence over the Late Night Lehigh program. The office offers students and organizations locations and funding assistance for the program or event of their choice, DeBias said.
The office of student affairs' Web site says their vision statement is to inspire, challenge and support students to achieve their full potential as individuals, community members and citizens of a larger society.
In the past, Late Night Lehigh has held events such as laser tag, mini golf, Rock the Casa, the Lehigh Idol Contest and the Last Comic Standing competition.
DeBias said Late Night Lehigh is always looking for new ideas and new events to hold at Lamberton.
Late Night Lehigh hopes by programming with them, a group will not only gain help and sponsorship for their event, but will also gain programming experience, leadership development and responsible social interaction.
Groups are encouraged to program events on Friday or Saturday nights as an alternative to going up on the Hill.
DeBias said Late Night Lehigh suggests the groups and organizations who want to hold an event to contact those with similar interests, which may be capable of co-sponsoring a social program.
...
The office of student affairs provides student groups and clubs on campus the opportunity to promote themselves and hold their events through Tuesday teasers, DeBias said.
...
Clubs and organizations at the University have tended to be the biggest event holders in the past, DeBias said. There is no limitation on who can hold an event.
If a club or organization is interested in co-sponsoring a Late Night Lehigh Event, they should e-mail Ginger DeBias at bgd1@lehigh.edu.
