At a general membership meeting last night, those in attendance nominated Asfaw Debia as candidate for City Council in Ward 1 and Rob Petry as candidate for Regina Public School Board in Subdivision 3.

Debia, who has lived in Regina since 1993, is a marketing analyst with SaskTel.A community activist, he was awarded the Saskatchewan Medal for Community Service this year.He is a member and Past President of the African Association of Regina, a member of the SaskTel Pioneers, Regina Police Service Race Relations and the Regina Public School Board Shared Values Committee.

Debia won out in a two-way race over Mark Docherty, a teacher and counsellor at SIAST.
