Marketing and media relations are the glamour jobs in sports management, and those positions have to be earned.But Debevoise said too many applications come in seeking interest in those coveted positions.

He advises expressing interest in the less sexy but more important field of ticket sales.

"You have to prove yourself in ground-level ticket sales first."he said.

Originally from Gahanna, Ohio, Ty joined the Clippers in December of 2001 and is entering his 5th season as the director of group sales.A 1997 graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School, Ty attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, where he played baseball and earned his bachelor's degree in sports management.

Ty earned his master's degree in sports management at The Ohio State University.
