   This drew a rebuke from the committee's chair John DeBerry, and more importantly, a shameless (or should I say shameful) denial from Governor Bredesen, who asserted that he "cannot recall a single conversation that I have had with any member of the Legislature on that particular bill, either directly or behind the scenes."
   
   It's nice to see our Democratic governor is so defiantly proud of his silence on one of the nastiest, most bigoted pieces of legislation to come down the pike in quite some time.
