   Pat Debenham, faculty advisor for Dancensemble, said he enjoys helping student choreographers prepare to showcase their work.
   
   He said it's easy to get lost in such a big university, but the hands-on and one-on-one style of the program gives a great opportunity to students.
   
   In preparation for the showcase, Debenham said the students have presented their work to the class three times during the semester.
   
   Debenham and fellow students give feedback to choreographers.
   
   He said he likes to teach them by asking questions so they find their own answers.
   
   "It's important for them to decide how to do it so that they can know it -- experience it," he said.
   
   Debenham will also be presenting a new work this weekend called "We Can."
   
   "It is, in some ways, a response to 9-11, even though we started it before," he said.
   
   The piece deals with relationships, how people support each other in subtle ways and how they reach out to help.
   
   The dance will be accompanied by Beatles' tunes "Yesterday," "We Can Work It Out," "Let it Be" and "Help."
   
   Debenham said the Beatles' songs have retained a freshness, even now, decades later.
   
   The theme communicated in the piece is how people think about yesterday, how they ask for help and how to create a sense of community.
