ANZ today announced the appointment of Mr John Debenham as General Manager Queensland, with primary responsibility for managing ANZ's Queensland Business Banking operations.

Previously Mr Debenham was the Regional Executive for Business Banking in Auckland, New Zealand.Prior to that he held senior relationship management positions servicing business and corporate clients in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.He has more than 14 years experience with ANZ.

Mr Debenham holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales and is a Certified Practising Accountant.

Mr Debenham said he was delighted to be appointed to the role and was looking forward to returning to Brisbane where he worked for five years in the early 1990s.

"Queensland is an important market for ANZ and we have a strong consumer and business presence in the state.That foundation, plus Queensland's vibrant economy, provides a great opportunity for us to continue to grow and develop our local business," he said.
