Jean-Pol Debelle is Technical Director of Euro Chlor and responsible for technical and safety management related to chlorine production and transportation.
A Belgian national, Mr Debelle graduated from the Faculté Polytechnique de Mons (University of Hainaut) with degrees in chemical engineering (1972) and automatic control (1973). The following year he started his career with Solvay and has held a variety of process control and production responsibilities. This includes five years (1986-1991) as production manager of Solvay's Rosignano mercury electrolysis unit in Italy and eight years as technical manager (1991-1999) for the Electrolytic Products Business Unit co-ordinating 13 European chlor-alkali production units.
In 1999, Solvay set up SolVin, a 75%-25% joint venture with BASF, to combine their vinyl operations and Mr Debelle was assigned to be the former's co-ordinator for production units at the latter's Antwerp plant site. He was seconded to Euro Chlor in January 2005.
