Catriona Debelle has been a Francophile for decades, majoring in French Language and Culture as part of her Law and Economics degrees at the University of Adelaide. She has obtained the Diplôme Supérieur de la Langue Française from the Sorbonne, as well as a diploma in commercial French from the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Catriona has lectured in art and design history across many periods, with particular interest in medieval France and early renaissance Italy. She has worked at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. Catriona has lived in France, Italy and the UK, and speaks French, Italian and a little German. As a lover of French art, culture, landscape, food and wine, Catriona has travelled extensively throughout France, from the busiest pavements of Paris to the most remote corners of the countryside.
Catriona first joined ASA in 2001 as group leader for Tapestry: Making and Meaning and co-leader for Cultural Landscapes of France. She has since co-led tours in 2003 and 2004.
