Our Green Tortoise Baja Beach Special will be enriched with the presence and knowledge of our on-board Naturalist, Garrett DeBell.Garrett is an Ecologist with a background in Plant and Animal Biology from both Stanford University and UC Berkeley.

As a graduate student at Berkeley, he taught on the conversation of whales, and currently holds teaching credentials for junior college in Biology, Zoology, and Ecology.Garrett has served as a Naturalist on a number of whale watching charter boats out of San Diego for non-profit organizations.He has seen Gray whales in Scammons Lagoon and San Ignacio, as well as from ship, shore, and even a Goodyear blimp!Garrett has also spotted Fin whales in the Sea of Cortez, and Humpback and Blue whales off the Farralon Islands!His sightings have further included many species of dolphins ranging from the Common dolphin, Pacific White-Sided and Pacific Bottlenose, to the Harbor porpoise.Other mammals of interest he has come in contact with have been False Killer Whales, Orcas, Sea Lions, Elephant Seals...and even the birth of an Elephant Seal pup on New Years Day!
