   The alleged nexus between insurgents and major political parties in Tripura is not new but came to the fore this summer with the sudden disappearance of Sridam Debbarma, an executive member of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council and later, his secret meeting with the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura. Mr Debbarma, also an assistant general secretary of the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura, and Meber Kumar Jamatia, a senior INPT leader, went to a village in West Tripura district on 3 May, leaving their personal guards and vehicle nearby.
   
   Kanglaonline, 28 June 2002 Assam Rifles intensify CI operation offensives against insurgents along Indo Myanmar border at Manipur Imphal, June 27:Assam Rifles have been launching counter offensives against the insurgents along the Indo Myanmar border at Moreh India's gateway to the south east Asian countries with the arrest of one rebel and recovering of several arms and ammunition smuggling into the state for supplying (it) to other north eastern insurgent outfits. Following a tip off about the presence of insurgent transit point at Moreh town near Lokchao bridge on the National Highway 39 in Manipur's Chandel district bordering Myanmar, the troops of the Assam Rifles cordoned off the entire area and launched search operations in the past three days. The underground, however, managed to their good escape and fled to across the border but one .303 rifle, besides seven pairs of uniforms, two jungle boots and some medicines were recovered from the hideout, a defence wing press statement said on Thursday.
