Mr. Deaton, an associate in Orrick's Los Angeles Office, is a member of the Public Finance Department.Mr. Deaton has acted as disclosure counsel and bond counsel in representing primarily cities, counties, and redevelopment agencies in lease revenue, enterprise fund, pension obligation bond, tax revenue anticipation, Teeter and tax increment financings, both in the capacities of disclosure counsel and bond counsel.In addition, he has acted as bond counsel and underwriter's counsel in 501(c)(3) and private activity bond financings, including financings supporting electric power grid, waste management, and water utility operations.
Before joining Orrick in January 2003, Mr. Deaton was an associate in the Corporate and Securities Section of the Houston Office of Fulbright & Jaworski LLP.Since joining Orrick, he has dedicated his practice to the Public Finance Department.
Mr. Deaton received a J.D. from Southern Methodist University School of Law, in 1998, where he became a member of the Order of Coif and the Southern Methodist University Law Review Association.In 1994, he earned a B.A., in History from the University of California, Irvine.
Mr. Deaton is a member of the State Bar of California and the State Bar of Texas.
