Dana G. Deaton

Dana was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi on April 7, 1965. She graduated in the top quarter of her class from the University of Mississippi School of Law in May, 1990 and was admitted to the Mississippi State Bar in September, 1990. Since her admission to the bar, Dana has developed a litigation practice, an insurance coverage practice and an appellate practice. She is actively involved in her community as demonstrated by her participation in and support of the Mississippi Economic Council, New Expectations for Women in Mississippi, Concerned Women for America, and Community Leadership Institute. Dana is also a Career Development Instructor for Christian Women's Job Corps. Dana and her husband and law partner, Chris, live in Tupelo, Mississippi and have five children - - Mary, Jim, Katy, Rick and Luke.

Deaton & Deaton, P.A. was founded on December 1, 1998 by Chris and Dana Deaton. Chris and Dana bring to their firm years of experience which provides their clients both extensive legal knowledge and training and also an understanding of the business realities facing them.

Chris and Dana began practicing law with a premier insurance-defense law firm in Oxford, Mississippi. There, Chris and Dana gained valuable knowledge and training in all areas of civil litigation. They practiced law primarily in the areas of product and professional liability, automobile liability, premises liability, toxic torts, and bad faith in state and federal courts throughout Mississippi.

In 1992, Chris and Dana left Oxford and moved to the Tupelo area. They began practicing law with a growing insurance defense firm and continued to develop and expand their practice areas. Chris began developing and devoting a significant portion of his practice to investigation and defense of arson and fraud claims, fire-related litigation, property and casualty matters and defense of asbestos matters. He became an instructor with the Mississippi Fire Investigators Association and also maintained and grew an active third party litigation practice. Dana began developing her current extensive insurance coverage practice while maintaining and growing her litigation practice which has been primarily devoted to the defense of product liability, toxic tort, and bad faith lawsuits.

After moving to Tupelo, Chris and Dana also began to develop and cultivate important relationships with their clients. They continued to strive to provide excellent legal representation but became concerned about how large firm overhead expenses impacted their clients. Believing that a smaller firm could provide better value at lower cost, Chris and Dana founded Deaton & Deaton.

DANA DEATON - TUPELO

Deaton was admitted to the Mississippi State Bar in 1990. Since then, she has developed an extensive insurance coverage practice, appellate practice and litigation practice. She is a founding member and partner of Deaton & Deaton, P.A. in Tupelo . Deaton serves as commissioner on Tupelo 's Historic Preservation Commission and as a member of the board for Shockwave Aquatic Team. She was recognized by the Mississippi Business Journal as "Top 40 Under 40" in 2005. In 2006, Deaton was recognized as the Tupelo Aquatic Club Administrator of the Year. She is involved in Tupelo Rotary club, the Lee County GOP Executive Committee. Deaton is a graduate of Community Development Foundation's Community Leadership Institute.
