David Deary started off as a Skillseeker at James Watt College as a trainee Administration Assistant in September 2001.In addition to his placement in the European Unit, which allowed David the opportunity to gain lots of hands-on work experience, he worked towards his SVQ Level II qualification in Administration.After only 2 and a half months as a skillseeker, David was offered a full-time Administration Assistant position in the department where he was based.

David said "The skillseeker programme allowed me to get a foot in the door as an employee at the college and gain some valuable work experience.

With the extra knowledge, David has since moved back to the European Unit on a higher grade than his original role.Meanwhile, David progressed onto and has now completed his SVQ Level III qualification under the Modern Apprenticeship scheme.
