   This time, the state has $250,000 available, versus $300,000 in previous years.The amount Martin County could receive would help 13 to 16 homes, she said.
   
   Hoosier Uplands has agreed to provide the required 10 percent match, but the county may still have to put up an additional $2,600 to get enough points to receive the competitive grant, Dearwester continued.

   IACED is pleased to welcome Jenny Dearwester as the newest member to be appointed to the IACED Board of Directors.Jenny replaces a vacancy created by the resignation of Caroline Shook.

   Jenny has been the Housing Program Manager of the Southern Indiana Development Commission since 1996 and has worked for the organization in various positions since 1993.In addition to housing, Jenny also works in the area of transportation and hazard mitigation planning.
   
   Jenny has been a certified grant administrator through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs since July 1994.She has received certification from Ball State University for completing the Indiana Community Development Course and the Indiana Economic Development Course.Jenny is also a member of the Martin County Chamber of Commerce.
   
   Jenny will have a very busy fall as she and her husband Casey are expecting their first child in October 2006!Welcome Jenny to the IACED Board!

   Jenny Dearwester, Southern Indiana Development Commission housing project manager, explained a housing needs assessment that will look at the community profile, housing cost burden, type and quality of housing, housing condition, changes in housing inventory, special needs and homelessness, services supporting affordable housing, adequacy of infrastructure, neighborhood needs, market conditions, and strategies for affordable housing.
   
   It will also include development of an action plan. She said the cost of the proposed project is $22,000. Grant funds in the amount of $20,000 are being requested with a local match of $2,000 required. She said Generations and Four Rivers Resource Services will provide the matching funds in the amount of $1,000 each.
   
   In response to a question from Mayor Dorman Clark, Dearwester said the contract with SIDC for the needs assessment will be void if the grant is not approved, so the city will not be responsible for any costs.
