   Mr. Stephen Dearwater, received a Master's of Science and is an Injury Epidemiologist. Mr. Dearwater has over 20 years experience at the Florida Department of Health and the University of Pittsburgh in injury surveillance at the local, state and national level and has supervised and/or coordinated numerous federally-funded grants that have examined injury and behavioral risk factors in adolescents, incidence and risk factors for nonfatal firearm injuries, emergency department-based surveillance for victims of domestic violence, cardiovascular risk factors in the physically disabled and the biomechanics of injuries sustained by restrained children in motor vehicle crashes. He is a member of the State and Territorial Injury Prevention Director's Association (STIPDA) and an active participant in the CDC's Injury Surveillance Workgroup, a collaboration of state injury epidemiologists working towards standardization of injury mortality and morbidity data. At Injury Free Miami he is responsible for managing a countywide injury surveillance system, producing regular reports on injury mortality and morbidity in Dade County and conducting independent epidemiologic research.
