   Gary is the managing director of Gary Deane Constructions Pty Ltd, a civil engineering road works and bulk earthworks contracting business, and has been a director of the QLeave Board since 1997.
   
   He has extensive experience in the building and construction industry and is a past president of the Civil Contractors Federation (Queensland Branch), and past vice president of the National Civil Contractors Federation.
   
   Gary, 55, is currently chair of Beaconsfield Press Pty Ltd, publishers of The Earthmover and other construction industry publications.He is also a director of Gary Deane Investments Pty Ltd and a Director of Grandview Properties Pty Ltd.

   Gary Deane, who has raced in the Fujitsu V8 Development Series since 2003, will swap his Falcon BA for the stylish Porsche 911 GT3 (Type 997) Cup car for the remaining two rounds of season 2007 before he joins the Championship full-time in 2008.
   
   Deane, the owner of Brisbane-based company Gary Deane Constructions, will join the stable of one of Queensland's leading motorsport teams, Sherrin MotorSport.
   
   Custodian Wealth Builders will come on board as his major sponsor.
   
   Deane said he decided on switching to the Carrera Cup because it provided him with everything he looked for in a category.
   
   "Apart from being a Porsche owner, the main attraction was the combination of professionalism and camaraderie that appears to be the norm between the competitors and administrators, and between the competitors themselves," he said.

   "It is really exciting that Gary is joining us for the remainder of 2007 and we are delighted that a competitor of his class will be racing with us next year," he said.
   
   Deane's racing career began at Lakeside in the HQ Holden State Championship in 1994.From there he graduated to the GTP category in a Subaru WRX before he jumped into a Subaru WRX Sti in 1999.
   
   He test drove a Ford Falcon AU V8 Supercar in early 2003 and has raced in the Development Series in it's various guises ever since.
   
   Now he's off to Mount Panorama and he can't wait to hit the track in a Porsche.
   
   "The scenery will be familiar, but with the Cup Car being very new to me, it will be a case of driving well within myself and getting familiar with the car," Deane said.
   
   "But with Bathurst and Indy as the final two rounds it's a fantastic way to lead into 2008."
