   Mary Dean, building supervisor at St. Joseph Grade School, has had two children go through Catholic schools and two that are currently at St. Joe.
   
   "Even if I wasn't Catholic, I would have chosen this type of environment because it's small and it's safe," she said. "They're helping me raise my kids."
   
   It's easy to network with other parents, she said, and she also appreciates that spirituality is part of their daily life at school.
   
   "You need that spiritual notion if you want to be a good person," she said. "Not that you can't have it when you go to public school, but here it's easier."
