    John retired from Dorset Police in May 2001 after completing 30 years service with that Force.During that time he served as a uniformed officer in the role of Support Manager, Operations Manager and Acting Divisional Commander on a busy BCU.As a detective officer John served extensively in Special Branch, ultimately as the Head of Special Branch for six years, as a Detective Chief Inspector at Headquarters CID responsible for Force Crime Performance and as a Detective Superintendent responsible for Force Crime Management and as a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) for the Force.

    Since completing his Police Service, John has specialised in the development and implementation of ANPR systems for ACPO and the Police Standards Unit at the Home Office.He is currently the ACPO National ANPR Co-ordinator and heads up a small National Team.John has also Chaired the ACPO National ANPR User Group since May 2001.
