    Gordon Dean received his M.Sc. from McMaster in 1946, majoring in chemistry and physics.He is a life-long resident of the Niagara-Peninsula, where he has operated Deanfield Farms Ltd.In partnership with his brother.

    In 1949, Gordon Dean began his political life as a member of Saltfleet Township Council.He progressed through the municipal offices of Reeve of Saltfleet, Warden of Wentworth County, Mayor of the "New" Town of Stoney Creek, and a member of the Hamilton-Wentworth Regional Council when Regional Government came to Wentworth 1974.

    In 1981, he was elected to the Ontario Legislature representing Wentworth Riding.Among the offices he held were Parlimentary Assistant to the Minister of Education, Colleges and Universities; Provincial Secretary for Social Development; Minister of Revenue; Member of the Standing Committee on Legislative assembly; Critic for Revenue; and Critic for Senior Citizens Affairs.

    In 1987, Gordon Dean retired from active political life, but retains his membership in the Progressive Conservative Association.He was Sub-Chairman (Hamilton District) of the McMaster Centennial Fund.He has served on the Board of the Royal Botanical Gardens, and has been active as a Trustee of St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton.He is a lifetime member of the Community Advisory Committee of St. Joseph's Community Health Centre, serving Stoney Creek and East Hamilton.
